“A hip short created by another crop of brilliant students at Gobelins by the names of Rémi Bastie, Jean-Baptiste Cumont, Clément Desnos, Jonathan and Nicolas Djob Nkondo Pegon. A cute idea that is carried along by energetic Flash animation, which seems to be a focus that is growing in popularity at Gobelins. Maybe we can look forward to a rise in flash animation quality for film and television in the coming years if this trend continues.”

Wow. This is pretty amazing. Landscape Ecololgist, Eric Sanderson, describes his 10-year research project, the Mannahatta Project, which yielded a wealth of ecological and topographical info, as well as an amazing 3D map of Manhattan circa 1600—accurate down to the block. There were over 50 different ecosystems! That’s more than Yosemite. It’s better articulated in this TED Talks video my Dad sent me.

Not sure how I stumbled upon these guys, but here we have an experimental Icelandic group, múm. There music is comprised of soft vocals, electronic beats, synth effects, and often incorporate new or home-made instruments. It’s funky, it’s weird, and so are their videos. Here’s one below:

Wowzer! Thanks for the tip, Doug! Brent Barson is amazing. You may remember him from an earlier posting of mine, F is for Fail. Well this maverick (haha, Sarah Palin) is back again! This time he’s done (yet again) the opening for the Typophile Film Festival. This year is the fifth annual. Clap, clap, clap. Anyway, it’s a beautifully done peace. Heartfelt and visually stimulating. And one scene makes me crave bacon SO BAD! I ramble… so enjoy:

DJ Miss Guy was playing this Nina Hagen track the other day and it gnawed it’s way into my heart and and laid it’s babies on my aorta valve. Filled with intrigue I did my little research bit and stumbled upon this video tribute from a vague group of Swedes. It’s pretty awesome. I’m really impressed with the way she has the mouth movements down. And the random stop animation is charming. Yakkity, yakkity, yak, yak, yak… here it is!

SOUR ‘日々の音色 (Hibi no neiro)

SO AWESOME. My friends were recently in this music video for Sour’s ‘Hibi no Neiro’ (Tone of everyday) from their mini album ‘Water Flavor EP’.

The cast was filmed solely via webcam from around the world. The outcome is phenomenal. Enjoy!
